Agreement Signed for the Non-Revenue Water Reduction Project
in Yangon, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar

 

  TSS Tokyo Water Co., Ltd. (TSS) and Toyo Engineering Corporation have established Japan Consortium Limited Liability Company, and have signed an agreement with Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) for the Non-Revenue Water Reduction Project in Mayangone Township, Yangon City, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar as follows.
   TSS, the Tokyo Waterworks Bureau, Toyo Engineering Corporation and Mitsui & Co., Ltd.  jointly signed an MOU with YCDC on September 26, 2013, for improving the water supply system in Yangon City. This agreement was signed based on the said MOU in order to provide specific support for establishing and maintaining the water supply system in Yangon City.

2. Outline of the Agreement
  (1) Target area:
          Mayangone Township, Yangon City
  (2) Project scale:
          Approximately 5 kilometer long water distribution pipes
  (3) Work period:
          From the signing date of the agreement until the end of March,2015
  (4) Cost of the project:
          Approximately 50 million yen (in equivalent Japanese Yen)
  (5) Scope of Work :
     (i) Installing flow meters and measuring water flow
     (ii) Checking the accuracy of house meters and replacing damaged house
         meters
     (iii) Installing water distribution booster pumps
     (iv) Repairing and restoring leaks
     (v) Integrating and replacing water pipes
     (vi) Carrying out overall management of non-revenue water reduction project
     (vii) Transferring technology to YCDC employees

3. Future Prospects
    According to a recent study the non-revenue water rate in Yangon is
  about 66%, which means that about 70% of water distributed by YCDC
  Water & Sanitation Department  has been lost without generating revenue
  due to leakage or other reasons.
    Our company will also continue promoting non-revenue water reduction
  in other areas of Yangon by utilizing Tokyo Water’s technology and
  operational expertise as well as the experience and results obtained
  through this agreement.
    In addition to the non-revenue water project, our company will also
  provide continuous cooperation toYCDC with an aim to supply safe and
  delicious tap water.
